After finding that the speakers’ battery can overheat and capture the fire, Apple has circulated a spontaneous recall of its Beats Pill XL speakers.
The company claims that overheating of Beats is rare case, however, it didn’t stop customers to use speakers or return them. The company claimed a complete refund of $325.
The company clarified about its product’s status by saying, there’re few rare cases when the Beats Pill XL battery might be overheated and can cause a safety risk, but the recall of speakers didn’t affect any other Apple or Beats products.
The company stated, our first priority is customer safety therefore Apple is asking its consumers to stop using Beats Pill XL speakers.
In November 2013, the Beats Pill XL speakers were launched first time, before this Apple bought the Beats organized by Dr. Dre and Iovine for $3bn. While for Apple, product recalls cases are rare because it had happened before. In August 2014,
Apple recalled some of rechargeable batteries of lithium ion for its Powerbook G4 laptops of 15-inch, having same issue of overheating.
Again Apple recalled more laptop batteries made by Sony in August 2006, which also pose to catch fire. In November 2011, Apple circulated another recall for its first generation iPod, a Nano music player which had launched in 2005 and recalled due to similar reason of catching fire or overheating.
