On Monday, Cyber security company Zimperium made aware of a bug in the world’s most famous smartphone operating system “Android” that allow data hackers to take full control on any smartphone with just a text message. “Attackers or hackers only require your contact or mobile number, using which they can incidentally execute a malicious code through just a particularly devised media file brought through MMS or text message,” according to Mobile Security firm Zimperium.
“A completely weaponized fortunate assault could even fully black out the text message before you open to read it. Only the message notification pops up on your handset and you will only see the notification in the notification bar.”
Android code named “Stagefright” was at the core of the issue, according to Zimperium. Stagefright pre-loads video bits automatically that added to text messages to reserve receivers from the exasperation of waiting to watch video clips. Attackers or Hackers can conceal malignant code in video snippets and it will be let loose even if the Android smartphone user never ever unclosed it or see and read the text message, according to research by Zimperium.
“The destination of attack for this type of hacking can be anyone,” the cyber security company said, directing to Stagefright as the worst Android bug found to date. “These exposures are intensely hazardous because they do not need that the sufferer take any serious action to be oppressed.”
Infected code injected by attackers could take full control of Android smartphones and pillage various contents without holder’s knowledge. Stagefright compromises some 95%, or a supposed 950 million, of Android smartphones, according to the one security company. According to Zimperium, it issued the major issue to Google and supplied the California Internet company with lots to avoid rifts.
“Google took action immediately and used the lots to internal code branches within 48 hours, but unluckily that’s only the start of what will be a very tedious practice of upgrade formation,” Zimperium said. Upgrading Android software impelling mobile gadgets is regulated by hardware manufacturers and sometimes telecommunication service providers, not just Google.
While Apple have full control on it’s the hardware and software manufacturing in its products like iPhones, iPads, and iPods powered by its handset operating system, Google makes Android readily available free to mobile manufacturers who can optimize the code and have ability to upgrade it as they see any fit.
