A year before, Nest purchased a Dropcam for $555 million, a home-safety camcorder incorporated into Works with Nest program. And now, Nest announced the Nest Cam which is surely a great innovation.
The latest Nest Cam is much like Dropcam, as at first look Nest Cam apparent to be another Dropcam. But Nest Cam is slimmer than Dropcam and its curved edges are bit curvier but the main idea behind this is similar of Dropcam: a simple, plug and play online security camcorder.
Nest Cam has $199 round black camera with a standalone apparatus, looks thinner and has little mobile stand which looks much familiar. The camera has ability to record 1080p view of video field with an extra embedded infrared night vision.
Nest Cam has an additional built in microphone by which a user can hear anything in entire house. The microphone also alert a user with an android and iOS app from unfamiliar movements and voice in home.
The back-end feature of Dropcam for watching and saving video has been replaced by News Aware, a fresh paid feature that allow a user to see what’s going on in surroundings while in home. Also News Aware lets a user to record and save more than 30 days video and quickly share it.
A user can use Nest Cam with the combination of Dropcams inside home as per wish. Both camcorders will appear in a really new designed Nest app for iOS and Android. The latest Nest Cam will be available in market from next week, and cost $199.
